The Community Learning Center (CLC) Program Staff is responsible for assisting in the delivery and development of educational and social programs offered to residents onsite and within the Community Learning Centers. This individual will work with the Program Coordinator on all programs and services as well as working with various community organizations/community partners, computer lab staff persons and interns. This individual will work directly with our residents, particularly youth residents and their families, as they participate in our programs. This position will have occasional hours in the evenings or on the weekends.

Ideal candidate will: have experience working with kids, be good with kids, be reliable, patient, responsible, creative, have experience leading a group in different activities or creating activities to keep kids learning and exploring. Individual should have a drivers license and be able to take kids to events in the larger community (plays at Overture/basketball games/library functions/school functions/science on campus/museum visits etc).

This position requires an individual who can work after school, some evening and weekend hours. Additional Skills desired include: ability to work well with a large range of ages, abilities and personality types; strong communication skills; effective interpersonal skills; organizational skills; computer skills; ability to problem solve; capacity for thinking outside the box/creatively; leadership skills; flexibility; and the ability to plan, prioritize and complete multiple tasks effectively.

Job Functions/Tasks

The following description of tasks and functions is not intended to be all-inclusive, but provide a general sense of the responsibilities and activities.

Programs & Services: The CLC Program staff be supervised by the Program Coordinator and Director to support programs that both align with organizational goals and meet the needs of residents. Programs focus on education as a means for residents to self develop and achieve not only educational goals but also career goals. Examples of functions include:

· Welcoming new residents and families and providing in depth information about the Community Learning Center, Programs and Resources available

· Informing residents about the Scholarships available and providing applications/information.

· Planning and preparing activities that engage youth residents

· Assist in planning and providing Afterschool programming for youth

· Assist in planning and providing Summer programming for youth

· Overseeing the use of Computer Lab

· Assisting to maintain computer labs with up to date software and equipment

· Provide guidance and assistance to individuals searching for jobs or preparing resumes, letters, etc.

· Support tutors or volunteers coming for homework help

· Be a resource for residents to connect with programs onsite and in the larger community to help meet their needs

· Participate in and be responsible for nurturing effective communications, interpersonal relations amongst staff, residents and other individuals and organizations that may be involved from time to time in the programs and services.

· Maintain good communication with the Property Manager and other office staff in order to keep services and housing functioning as one integrated delivery system.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • After school
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
