Job Overview

The Construction Engineer will work closely with engineers, project managers, and ESI’s construction partners to support the construction and startup of the company’s ongoing biogas utilization projects. The position requires implementing sound engineering principles to ensure project designs are implemented and installed to meet regulatory requirements and ESI’s internal quality standards. An ability to work independently, self-motivate, and communicate effectively both internally and with multiple partners and Subcontractors is of the utmost importance to this position.

This position will be located at the project site.

Reports To

The Construction Engineer will report to the Projects Department leadership staff.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Managing site construction activities and team members to meet construction schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.
  • Communicating and meeting with clients and team members
  • Solving problems involving construction or site equipment
  • Handle change order negotiations with clients and subcontractors
  • Plan construction processes and procedures
  • Prepare and update project schedules.
  • Prepare daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Maintain daily construction site activity log.
  • Work with HSE staff to ensure projects meet environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspecting systems and equipment, testing them for safety, ensuring they are well-maintained, and overseeing repairs and upgrades.
  • Estimating costs and managing assigned work within budget
  • Support the review and response to contractor RFIs.
  • Support ESI’s Operations Division with process troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Interact with engineering disciplines and departments throughout the company.
  • Seek ways to improve and promote quality, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in all work.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% depending on the site needs.
  • Willingness and ability to respond to urgent issues outside normal business hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 to 12 years of Industrial Engineering and Construction project experience including a minimum of 3 years onsite construction management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license for the state of residence.
  • Working knowledge of construction site hazard assessment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Part 1926 – Safety and Health Regulations for Construction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Plant 3D.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer’s license.
  • Proficiency in MS Project or other project management/scheduling software.
