Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer’s responsibilities include identifying areas for improvement, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, designing new products and processes, as well as ensuring cost-efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards.
The Manufacturing Engineer must be able to work effectively within a team and have a high level of technical expertise. An outstanding manufacturing engineer should be able to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services.
- Maintains product and process database by writing computer programs and entering data.
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
- Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data to provide management with reports to better understand future requirements needed for manufacturing
- Conducts time studies, line balancing, line efficiency, OEE, etc.
- Utilize lean manufacturing, lean six sigma, and project management to reduce non-value-added activities
Education and/or Experience
- BS in manufacturing engineering with 1-3 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, lean six sigma, continuous improvement, and project management. Green belt certified preferred
- Must have strong knowledge on industrial CNC and laser programming.
- Must have strong knowledge of engineering economics
- Needs to be a leader who takes responsibility for teamwork, problem solving, good commercial awareness, excellent communication, knowledge of equipment for purchase, installation, and repair
- Experience using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor/SolidWorks
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
During the performance of his/her work duties regularly lift up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds, such as removing materials from shipping containers.

The employee works in a warehouse environment and is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
