Snyder Environmental is a small but dynamic construction company specializing in environmental remediation, selective demolition and asbestos abatement. Consisting of only about 50 full-time employees, we operate in several states in the southeast and have tackled spectacular multi-million dollar projects with stunning results.

We are seeking an experienced controller to oversee all finance and accounting functions. The right candidate will be a self-starter with a solid finance background and sufficient construction experience to hit the ground running and move the needle quickly.

Position Description – Controller

Business Group/Dept: Finance
FLSA: Exempt
Reports To: CEO

Purpose of the Position

Oversees the financial and accounting operations of Snyder Environmental.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards, balance sheet and monthly P&L production in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage job estimates, progress billing, monthly WIP reports and job profitability reviews.
  • Manage and monitor AR, AP, collections, and cash flow.
  • Manage reporting for banking relationships, insurance reporting and bonding reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate the production of information to external auditors for the annual audit and periodic bank audits.
  • Oversee payroll and certified payroll reports adhering to the requirements of applicable Davis-Bacon wage decisions.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Be a positive company representative in all internal and external communications.
  • Execute and abide by a mutually agreed non-compete and confidentiality agreement.
  • Participate in daily team calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field; Experience with accounting in the construction or demolition field, including experience or familiarity with percentage of completion accounting; Understanding of AIA billing a plus; Superior Microsoft Office Suite and Excel skills required; Experience with Acumatica a plus.
