Job description
Overview:
It is the primary responsibility of the Hotel Controller to complete accounting of non-gaming revenues, review financial statements and account reconciliations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.
Specific Job Functions:
- Communicate with department heads and Corporate regarding accounting and internal control issues
- Prepare and maintain non-gaming revenue accounting records
- Perform tasks and assignments in compliance with corporate accounting policies
- Complete tasks in compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintain records for the Gaming Control Board, county and state taxes and licenses, as well as safeguard company assets
- Ensure compliance with Nevada Minimum Internal Controls Standards (MICS), Nevada Gaming Board Regulations, Statutes
- Manage the Point of Sales (POS), Hotel Property Management System (PMS) and Ticketing Systems as it relates to configuration and reporting
- Supervise in preparation and review of profit splits for Operating Agreements of Managed / Leased outlets
- Provide support to managers and aid in the development of leadership skills
- Communicate with external and internal auditors
- Direct accounting staff on technical matters
- Review disbursements prior to release
- Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least five years management experience required
- At least three years experience in accounting / finance, hospitality industry preferred
- Knowledge of Hotel Property Management System (PMS), Point of Sales (POS), Retail and Ticketing Systems preferred
- Must have professional appearance and demeanor
