How You’ll Help Fulfill the HSHM Mission

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner from an established menu.
  • Prepare and stock snack area.
  • Prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive, and tasty meals with due consideration for cost-effectiveness and available food product
  • Comply with standards of sanitation and safety set by the health department and Home Sweet Home Ministries, including all food handling and cleanliness standards
  • Interact professionally and courteously with all residents, staff, volunteers, and donors.
  • Accepts and process incoming food donations as needed
  • Provide direction for volunteers and clients by delegating work tasks from an established list
  • Mission-oriented with values in harmony with those of Home Sweet Home Ministries, Inc.
  • Must have valid Illinois food sanitation license or must attain such license within first 90 days of employment
  • Two years’ experience preparing food in an institutional or commercial kitchen preferred
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to send/receive emails via Outlook and basic data entry
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
