Job Summary and Qualifications
The Pre-analytical Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day pre-analytical activities of the laboratory department. This position works primarily in the pre-analytical areas of the laboratory. In regards to the pre-analytical areas of the laboratory, this position assigns daily work tasks to be performed, reviews work performed, maintains inventory levels, arranges training of new hires, ensures equipment is maintained, develops procedures and monitors quality control. This position performs both administrative and clinical duties.
1. Organizes and assigns work tasks to phlebotomists and laboratory assistants.
2. Maintains schedule and reviews time clock punches of phlebotomists and laboratory assistants. This includes any schedule related applications. May be asked to help with schedule application upkeep as management requests.
3. Ensures new pre-analytical employees are trained and competency verified.
4. Ensures that inventory levels are maintained adequately for the volume of testing performed. Supply orders are placed prior to scheduled order date for both stock and specials.
5. Keeps informed of regulatory requirements and ensure that procedures are in place to maintain accreditation by inspecting agencies.
6. Ensures that safety policies and procedures are in place and adhered to by all staff working in the department.
7. Works with quality assurance personnel to investigate problems and perform QA studies as they relate to pre-analytical tasks.
8. Develops and maintains procedure manuals in an accepted format.
9. Ensures good communication between pre-analytical staff and patients, analytical staff, nurses, physicians, pathologists and laboratory administration.

19. Conducts performance evaluations on pre-analytical staff.
20. Follows and implements Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
21. Tracks pre-analytical trends and organizes data and issues.
22. Interact effectively with lab staff and supervisors to ensure lab meets regulatory standards.
23. Performs other duties as assigned.
24. Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
Qualifications:
Associates degree required.
Phlebotomy Experience required.
Basic Cardiac Life Support required within 30 days.
This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
