Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs clerical and receptionist duties, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of LCMC. Performs patient care and cardiac monitoring duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Defines in writing the scope of services for the Emergency Department interaction with outside agencies and the community.

2.Reviews and makes recommendations, in writing, to the ED Director and Medical Director on an annual basis covering the following: a.Scope of service b.Pre-hospital Standards of Care and Standards of Practice.

3.Performs in a manner commensurate with the mission and values of the organization.

a.Develops a plan for supporting the relationship between the hospital and Emergency Rescue Agencies.

b.Develops a plan for marketing the Emergency department goals of patient care services on an annual basis.

4.Provides leadership and direction for staff interaction with EMS in accordance with the organizational goals and objectives.

5.Assumes authority, accountability and responsibility for the exchange and return of equipment to EMS.

6.Demonstrates the ability to create, initiate, and integrate new concepts and practices to improve pre-hospital care and satisfaction.

7.Demonstrates the ability to create, initiate, and integrate new concepts and practices to improve the hand off of care between EMS and nursing.

8.Demonstrates skill in handling pressures, stress, and crisis situations.

9.Uses measurement and analysis with objectivity and foresight to make decisions.

10.Demonstrate support for hospital philosophy, goals, and objectives and integrates those into EMS interactions.

11.Uses a systematic problem-solving process to make sound decisions in a timely manner.

12.Accepts and makes changes based on constructive criticism.

13.Identifies budget needs and supplies substantiating data.

14.Anticipates the purchase and/or replacement of equipment in the ED and in the Field using input from The Administrative ED Director to identify compatibility with EMS equipment.

15.Reviews the monthly EMS financial statistics and plans expenditures according to budgeted limitations.

16.Performs monthly financial analysis and reviews with ED Director and CFO.

17.Integrates the department/service into the organization’s primary goals.

18.Develops and implements community programming that markets the services of the Emergency Department and local Emergency Rescue and Disaster Planning Services

19.Organizes, directs, and staffs one major EMS/ North Florida Regional joint community program.

20.Acts as a liaison & participates in planning and organization of EMS student clinical rotations.

21.Collaborates with local EMS Education Agencies in developing student schedules and assigning preceptors.

22.Participates in student evaluations of the clinical site and in RN evaluations of student performance.

23.Demonstrates clinical expertise and/or working knowledge necessary to function as a role model.

24.Facilitates pre-hospital clinical experience and/or education for ED staff.

25.Takes an active role in providing feedback regarding staff interaction with EMS.

26.Assumes responsibility for orientation, in-service training for ED staff relative to pre-hospital care and outside agency interaction. Arranges ride –a-long experience for staff as budget allows.

4.Health/Safety/Security: Knowledgeable of all policies and procedures that affect the outcomes of patient care, employee rights and responsibilities.

5.Productivity/Initiative: Works as a team member through interaction, assistance and demonstration. Performs, participates, implements and evaluates performance improvement activities within the department.

6.Job Specific: As defined in Performance Evaluation.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

  • Associate Degree as EMT, Paramedic, or Nursing preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
  • EMT-P certification or RN license in the State of Florida preferred.
  • BLS certified required
  • Additional certifications as outlined in specific unit competencies.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

Paramedic experience with EMS or Fire Department strongly preferred.

Appropriate experience for designated area.
