Job Summary:
Job incumbent assists with credentialing and privileging for Clinical Staff. Ensures the safety of TCC patients by ensuring that clinical staff are appropriately credentialed and privileged, and that they comply with ongoing activities to maintain their clinical staff membership.

Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.


Essential Functions

Representative Duties: Under general supervision of the Credentialing Manager, job incumbent will:

1. Facilitate the initiation, processing, monitoring, and maintenance of credentialing records for clinical staff, locum tenens, students, and volunteers as directed by the Credentialing Manager.

2. Maintain current knowledge of credentialing and accreditation policies, national standards, and best practices.

3. Initiate, distribute, compile, monitor, and track compliance with quarterly peer review submissions.

4. Facilitate completion of annual Federal Tort Claims Act re-deeming application through HRSA.

5. Maintain accurate records of Health Services policies and coordinate facilitate annual policy review among all departments.

6. Assist in coordination of accreditation activities related to credentialing and privileging of healthcare providers and clinical staff members, and works to maintain compliance with AAAHC, CARF, HRSA and other accreditation or accreditation-like standards.

7. Maintain QM-related aspects of the Verge system for credentialing, privileging, and peer review activities; this includes, but is not limited to: keeping current staff lists; running regular reports and distributing to managers as appropriate; working with software vendor on process improvements to enhance staff utilization of the software; and escalating issues to the vendor as needed.

8. Work with clinical staff to ensure they are properly trained and utilizing the Verge software package for re-appointment and other credentialing-related activities.

9. Participate in Health Services Committees regarding quality management aspects when requested.

10. Maintain current knowledge of internal TCC department functions and of the external organizations with which TCC interacts.

11. Advises Medical Executive Committee on credentialing and privileging issues as appropriate.

12. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client, employee, and medical staff issues.

13. Acts as the Credentialing Manager in his/her absence.

Other Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associate's degree in health related field from an accredited college OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or demonstrated relevant Quality Management or health care delivery experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

2. Two years' direct experience with credentialing of clinical staff and/or closely-related quality management role in a healthcare setting.

3. Two years' general experience in healthcare quality management, human resources or a medical staff office.

4. Five years' experience working in a health care setting.

5. NAMSS certification or evidence of active progress toward certification preferred.

6. Experience with Alaska Native people preferred.

7. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills.

2. Knowledge of current healthcare credentialing standards and practices.

3. Knowledge of document retention and confidentiality requirements.

4. Extremely detail oriented and exceptional follow-through with long-term projects and tasks.

5. Sound organizational skills.

6. Strong project management skills.

7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and prioritize accordingly.

8. Computer knowledge with ability to work with databases, document management systems, spreadsheets, and other data-driven software applications.

Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical demands: Incumbent may be sitting long periods of time, looking at the computer screen for extended periods, and repetitive motion due to typing. Job incumbent may be required at times to lift and carry up to fifty pounds. Incumbent must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a busy and sometimes stressful environment.
