Gridiron IT is seeking a Database Administrator to support a program out of Arlington, VA or Kingsford, MI.
As the Database Administrator (Mid-Level), you will collaborate with IT Professionals and communicate with key stakeholders to administer and troubleshoot legacy databases and support data migration to our new Oracle ERP. You will support documentation of procedures, establishment of best practices, and improvement of applications. In addition, you will work to implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the database and leverage various tools to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Design, optimize and maintain database tables and structures
- Develop Views, Functions, and Stored Procedures
- Create and alter database objects
- Modify and test change requests
- Ensure database management, quality, stability, reliability, and performance
- Optimize database objects to improve performance and efficiency
- Troubleshoot and problem solve program related service tickets requiring developer expertise
- Maintain database backup and recovery infrastructure
- Gather user requirements, identify new features beneficial to the business to deploy, and enhance functionality to address stakeholder needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to support data migration
- Develop procedures and scripts to effectively extract, transform, and load data
- Research and suggest new database products, services, and protocols
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in database design, development, and administration, including backup and recovery, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
- Expertise in SQL and Oracle Database Administration tools (i.e. Oracle Database, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Oracle Enterprise Manager)
- Experience with Database Management Systems (DBMS) such as Microsoft (MS) SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle SQL Developer
- Expertise with database security features and techniques
- Familiarity with additional languages and technologies such as Python, Bash or PowerShell
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and resolve issues quickly
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Education and/or Experience:
- 5-7 years of professional experience administering Oracle Databases or MS SQL databases
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related subject
- Experience with data migration, database management and database architecture
- Experience and certifications with technologies including SQL, MS SQL, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, PowerShell preferred
- Certification in Oracle Database Administration preferred (i.e. Oracle Certified Professional)
- Experience with reporting and business intelligence tools

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
