£24,774 - £30,405 per annum plus benefits
Serco Marine Services operates and manages 120 vessels from 8 sites around the UK, delivering marine services to the UK Ministry of Defence, and providing ship management services to public sector vessel operators such as International Nuclear Services. As owners and operators of specialist vessels, from harbour work boats to ocean going support vessels, we provide world class integrated marine services.
We are currently recruiting for a Deck Rating join our team at Devonport Marine on a Fixed Term Contract. The purpose of this role is to act as the main labour force aboard the vessel. The post holder will carry out a range of duties in the task of assisting in the safe operation of the vessel or the handling of its cargo.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Berthing/Slipping of the Vessel.
- Ship husbandry tasks.
- Ship operational tasks.
- Cleaning tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
- Emergency equipment and procedures and location and use of firefighting equipment.
- Drive deck machinery including cranes.
- Assist in repair and maintenance of ship’s equipment.
- Machinery care, routine maintenance, and lubrication.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- EDH Course or AB’s Ticket
- Basic Sea Survival
- Fire Fighting
- ENG 1 Medical
- Health & Safety awareness
- Manual Handling
