Job description

The Family Support Worker is responsible for providing parenting and family care, support, education, and connections. The ongoing role of the Family Support Worker is to advocate for the continued protection of all children from child abuse and neglect, recognizing that supporting parents and grandparents is essential in this process.
You will be making a difference in the lives of youth and families by doing the following:
- Attend scheduled supervision visits with families
- Maintain ongoing communication with DCF Social Workers, service professionals, educators, and collaterals
- Complete all indicated reports and documentation on a timely basis
- Provide current parenting and support information
- Connect parents to community resources
- Act as a liaison to social workers and school administrators as needed
- Participate in meetings at DCF every six weeks on related cases
- Attend and collaborate in meetings at schools when needed
- Provide in-home family visits (at-risk families may require several visits during the week)
- Attend trainings that are pertinent and relevant to working with families at risk
- Participate in regularly scheduled supervision and be open to supervisor feedback
- Actively participate in annual performance evaluation process
- Attend all required trainings within the specified time frame
- Mandated reporting of abuse and neglect
- Ability to adhere to agency Confidentiality Policy
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human services, counseling, social work or related area and experience is required
- Commitment to a strength-based approach and skill building in working with families
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of community resources and willingness and interest to collaborate with other agencies
- Desire to be part of a growing grassroots program that serves as a living memorial through its mission of child abuse and neglect prevention
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid MA driver’s license with acceptable driving record and current proof of insurance
- Acceptable CORI and SORI background record check as required by program
