Job description
The Development Coordinator provides support to the Resource Development department by assisting in generating fundraising income through campaigns targeting foundations, corporations, civic groups and individual donors within the community.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resource Development
- Develop, maintain, and increase the donor database to promote major cultivation and solicitation.
- Develop strategic partnerships with businesses in Hernando County. Perform Community Outreach, assist with mailings, write follow-up letters and track and manage donor data.
- Provides grant writing support for foundations and corporate grant requests and acknowledgment of donor gifts; coordinates the planning and implementation of special events.
- Manage administrative systems to track fundraising income and donations and recognize contributions with acknowledgment letters and special recognition events
- Contribute to acquiring financial support: write grant proposals for foundation support; work with Club management to solicit corporations and civic groups for donations and other support; and plan and implement special fundraising events.
- Collaborate with staff in BGCHC's website, social media, print and other marketing efforts.
- Attend relevant events, conferences, webinars, and trainings as assigned.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Mentoring Grants Coordinator
- Oversee and coordinate Mentoring Program, ensuring that all deliverables of grants are completed. Mentoring program includes a grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and Department of Education (DOE)
- Coordinate the military-youth grant.
- Provide ongoing support and supervision to all mentors, specifically conducting at least bi-weekly management and ongoing responsiveness to mentor questions and concerns.
- Provide ongoing education workshops to mentors at least once per quarter throughout the year.
- Train and provide ongoing support to Unit Directors in terms of grant deliverables and grant documentation.
SCHEDULE:
- Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends for community outreach events
- 40 hours/week. No overtime!

- Associates' degree; OR 1-3 years' experience in grant management
- Knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures and of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations, youth development services preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Detail-oriented, strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
