Mission India, located in Kentwood, MI, is a vibrant ministry bringing lives to Christ on a global level. For over 30 years, Mission India has been transforming India through Church Planter Training, Adult Literacy and Children’s Bible Club programs. We currently have a Development/Grant Writer opportunity within our Development Services team. In this hybridrole, you will balance your time between development and grant writing working closely with a variety of team members and departments both inside and outside of Mission India.
In this role, you will:
- Write, submit, and manage grant proposals and accompanying reports in compliance with submission rules and applicable regulations.
- Write funding requests for major donor individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations for Development team and other relationship managers.
- Develop customized reports for major donor individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations on the outcomes and impact of their giving.
To be successful in this role, candidates need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or equivalent
- Previous writing experience that may include proposals, technical, and/or grant writing
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, and persuasive funding requests
- Possess strong editing and proofreading skills with superb attention to detail
- Desire and interest to work harmoniously as part of a larger team and help ensure accurate information and reports
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and independent projects simultaneously in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate data
- Demonstrated problem solving and customer service skills
- Be dependable, precise, with follow-up and follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- InDesign experience or similar software proficiency is strongly preferred
- Grant proposal writing experience preferred
- Experience writing for a philanthropic or non-profit organization is strongly preferred although not necessary
