Job Summary:
The duties and responsibilities of the Dining Services Aide include providing assistance with various dietary functions as assigned by the Dining Services Director.
Job Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma preferred
Licensure: Must obtain a food handler permit within 30 days of employment
Experience: 6 months food services experience preferred
Skills: Must be able to read, write, follow direction, communicate clearly, have basic computer skills and perform basic math functions
Transportation: Ability to ensure timely arrival and stable transportation
Environmental and Working Conditions:
The Dining Services Aide works primarily in a kitchen and dining environment but must also be able to move throughout the buildings and grounds as needed throughout the day. It is possible that the work may include limited exposure to residents and/or patients with AIDS, HIV and hepatitis B viruses involving Risk Classification Categories 1, 2, and 3** environmental conditions will fluctuate. To be qualified for the position, applicants and teammates will have the ability to work in the environment conducive to caring for residents, with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to self or others.

- Tasks may involve exposure to blood or body fluids
- Tasks do not involve contact with blood or body fluids but could result in performing a Category 1 task.
- Tasks do not involve any risk of exposure to blood and body fluids.
Physical and Mental Effort:
The Dining Services Aide works primarily in a kitchen or dining room environment but must also be able to move throughout the buildings and grounds as needed throughout the day. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines.
Essential Functions:
Set tables, serve food, clear tables, and follow cleaning schedules as assigned
Clean dining rooms and kitchen areas including removing food trays and carts; Dispose of trash appropriately and keep work areas clean, dry, and free of hazardous items; Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies and procedures
Follow all policies and procedures relating to food service to meet or exceed organizational standards
Demonstrate understanding of therapeutic diets/special dietary requirements as needed
Participate in ongoing training programs related to the job; Complete required courses as assigned
Report disrepair of appliances, equipment, etc.
Establish and maintain a positive working environment
Serve resident and guest meals of their choosing with professional, respectful attitude; providing excellent service and being attentive to their needs
Other duties as assigned
Establish and encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in residents’ activity preferences and needs.
