Summary:
Responsible for the strategic planning, financial performance, quality and operational management of the home and specialty infusion services. Oversee department operations and ensures compliance with organizational policies , local, state, federal regulatory and accreditation agencies. Works in collaboration with acute care & ambulatory patient care and pharmacy services to ensure appropriate continuum care for infusion pharmaceutical services.
Detailed responsibilities:
  • Directs the development and execution of the departments' strategic plan; develops short and long-range strategic objectives to meet the strategic plan. Responsible for the financial oversight and health of business unit. Promotes cost effective pharmaceutical services for the health system.
  • Develops and manages all key home infusion operational systems, including, but not limited to: a) referrals, b). insurance benefits verification c. patient care coordination , d) pharmacy and medical coverage eligibility, e). prior authorizations, f). clinical pharmacy & sterile compounding regulations g). billing and collections, h) dispensing and shipping i). purchasing and inventory control, j). specialty infusion therapy management.
  • Ensures a customer service model of excellence is established and continue to create product differentiation in support of the customer needs. Lead all home infusion drug activities relating to definition of the product line(s) and the operational, clinical management, patient support and administrative capabilities required to support and effectively execute the line(s).
  • Initiates and maintains relationships with regional payors, health plans, and potential consumers to create awareness of home and specialty infusion services aiming to receive preferred providers status. Works in collaboration with applicable stakeholders to promote infusion business growth and expansion. Maintains effective and conducive communication systems through the organization.
  • Designs, implements and evaluates clinical and operational key performance indicators for tracking and trending financial, quality, growth, service performance and patient satisfaction.
  • Supports the continuous quality improvement (CQI) program and ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation bodies and professional standards. Promotes and facilitates outcome research activities by clinical staff.
  • Supports department and system academic development for pharmacists, pharmacy technician, students, and residents.
