What You'll Do
The role will lead and support audits of varied technologies and processes in support of the strategic goals of the audit function using data analytics. The Data Analytics Director is responsible for proactively identifying key risks, including providing analytic subject matter expertise to the engagement teams, developing the data analytics team, building and maintaining effective relationships and supporting management in achievement of their goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.
Responsibilities will be aligned, but not limited, to five pillars:
Department Oversight
  • Provide leadership for multiple Internal Audit Analytics team members with direct accountability of two full time staff and approximately 10-15 co-sourcing individuals.
  • Support the design, execution, and maintenance of IA infrastructure (Policies, Procedures, Standards, Guidance, Audit Universe, Risk Assessments, Co-Sourcing Management, Service Quality, Regulatory Management and Stakeholder Management) to meet the requirements of Regulators, IIA Standards and OCC’s designation as a SIFMU/ Central Clearing Party (CCP).
  • Support the development of the IA risk assessment and comprehensive annual budget through the use of data analytics.
Delivery
  • Support the Internal Audit Department, both audit engagement and internal data analytics teams, on feasibility analysis and the delivery of assigned audits through the use of data analytics.
  • Support the Internal Audit Department, both audit engagement and internal data analytics teams, confirming a professional auditee experience.
  • Owning the quality, accuracy of results, and delivery of analytics in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate data quality issues and identify potential exceptions or inefficient practices for root causes and propose advice and recommendations for achievable solutions.
  • Apply risk-based analytics to identify potential audit areas and/or samples.

Quality
  • Maintaining an understanding of policies, procedures, standards, and supporting technologies, and educating engagement teams accordingly on the proper use of data analytics and how to best leverage it in audits.
  • Ability to understand professional principles and standards related to audit and analytics (e.g., IIA IPPF, ISO 20546) and the relevancy to OCC’s data environment and operations.
  • Keeping current on best practices and emerging analytics activities within the financial services industry and making recommendations for improvements as necessary.
Team Development
  • Effectively lead analytics staff, providing direction, clearly defined performance expectations, coaching and feedback, and recognition/motivation.
  • Providing oversight and coaching to the team both, audit engagement and internal data analytics teams, confirming the delivery, quality and auditee experience.

Leadership
  • Manage effective relationships and partnerships with the internal audit team, business groups, and management.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manage a team

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications & Experience will be required, but not limited, to:
Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to handle potentially sensitive situations and discussions.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate facts, and prepare and present concise oral and written reports.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, prioritizing multiple audit assignments to simultaneously complete each in a timely fashion.
Experience
  • Experience working in a complex, fast paced environment.
  • Experience using the principles, practices, and techniques involved in conducting audits in accordance with the requirements set forth in the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing published by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
  • [Preferred] Consulting and/or accounting firm experience.
  • [Preferred] Experience in Financial Services/Security Industry and working within a regulated environment.
Technical Skills & Background
  • [Required] Microsoft Office applications
  • [Required] Familiarity with analytics tools such as: Tableau, Alteryx, ACL
  • [Required] Familiarity with databases such as: Oracle, DB2, SQL
  • [Preferred] Familiarity with cloud based solutions: AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, Workday
  • [Preferred] Proficiency using Archer or other audit or Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) software

Certifications
  • [Required] Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent.
  • [Preferred] Associate Certified Analytics Professional (aCAP) or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP).

Education & Training
  • [Required] Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Data Management, or related field.
  • [Required] 10+ years of experience (audit-related) in developing data analytics or projects.
  • [Preferred] Master's degree.
