Position Summary

This position supports enterprise-wide compliance activities in the area of occupational health, with a primary focus on keeping our employees fit for duty through injury prevention, employee wellness, case management, and process improvement that significantly impacts EHS's bottom-line performance while ensuring alignment with business strategies and operational requirements. This role is responsible for creating and implementing an enterprise-wide, global occupational health strategy and framework to align the occupational health approach in every jurisdiction Sysco operates. This position will partner with leaders throughout the enterprise to build both global and local capabilities in the area of occupational health. The position also provides guidance to global occupational health professionals and influences site, regional and global business partners to drive prioritization of regulatory compliance, continuous performance improvement, and integration of occupational health objectives into standard work processes and business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor, interpret, and assess existing or emerging global and local ergonomics, health, wellness, hygiene occupational health trends and industry practices to determine operational and business impacts and develop, integrate, and execute occupational health strategies, policies, programs, procedures rest, standards, training, processes and actions throughout the enterprise to manage applicable requirements.
  • Direct, develop, and implement strategic and operational/high-level projects and processes either through independent/highly autonomous work or through the facilitation of cross-functional work teams to enable the effective and efficient completion of objectives
  • Develop collaboration with other stakeholders to expand the scope of the program. Identify opportunities to expand further the understanding and application of ergonomics and adapt the program according to their needs.
  • Provide required metrics and updates for regular reporting; share specific highlights and lowlights as applicable as well as create leading indicators to prevent MSD incidents.
  • Create and implement programs that will assist employees to avoid repetitive stress, cumulative trauma, and other injuries and impairments.
  • Manage/audit department expenses within approved budget parameters, ensuring that the Employee Occupational Health Ergonomics and Nursing department meets the budget or expense targets on a monthly and annual basis. Develops staffing plans and schedules to meet department needs that reflect an understanding of the importance of cost-effectiveness. Conducts in-depth financial analysis of the department to ensure value add as well as evaluating unique projects and assists in their implementation.
  • Provide leadership and communication to maintain a competent and engaged employee group by conducting regular department meetings to review policies and procedures and operational matters, rounding on all employees, completing performance appraisals, conducting new hire feedback sessions, coaching/corrective counseling, and providing recognition/commendations to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Perform occupational health risk assessments and implement effective programs, procedures, processes, and systems to ensure regulatory compliance and protect associates and communities
  • Develop and implement US program responsible KPIs, report on KPIs internally and externally in accordance with Regulatory Requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education Required:
  • BS or MS in occupational health-related field of study

Experience Required:
  • 8+ years experience working within Occupational Health, Ergonomics, Wellness and Hygiene program(s), preferably in a large, multi-national company
  • Demonstrated experience in driving change in a large matrixed environment
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Project management experience or similar in working with time-sensitive initiatives scope, budgets, work streams etc.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining multiple cross-functional working relationships with nationally dispersed individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a business case in support of responsible programs/initiatives
  • Experience communicating with and influencing leadership as well as inspiring employees

Licenses/Certifications Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in the field of Occupational Health, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, Claims Management and Wellness.

Technical Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities both to work collaboratively and to influence those within and or without formal hierarchical relationship structure.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills, able to present complex issues simply and to reach audiences with different perspectives and educational backgrounds
  • Proven ability to influence business leadership and leverage relationships to drive results throughout the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques and quantitative, analytical skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, attentive to details, work well under pressure and able to meet deadlines, uses data to drive decisions
  • Ability to organize and manage a complex workload and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to optimize team skills and leverage talent to drive change throughout the enterprise
