Our team is growing and we are searching for dedicated and energetic Director of Behavioral Health Services. The ideal candidate would be responsible for the coordination, development, and growth of behavioral health services. Responsible for analyzing behavioral health services to include identification of performance needs, implementation of improvement plans, and review of performance targets within each program.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews all behavioral health programs to ensure compliance with licensure, certification, and accreditation standards.
  • Responsible for all administrative aspects of behavioral health services including budget development/control, program goals/objectives, staff utilization, etc.
  • Directly and indirectly provide supervision for the area staff by completing, overseeing, and/or assisting staff/Supervisors with the following:
    • Staff evaluations, performance measures, and disciplinary actions
    • Assist with developing, organizing, and facilitating training for area staff
    • Assist with the hiring process and orientation, relevant to each position
  • Complete a quarterly review of departmental financials, in conjunction with the accounting department, and develop corrective action plans for areas of financial concern.
  • Responsible for communicating department matters to the Chief Operating Officer and maintaining excellent communication between other departments, locations and staff.
  • Connect and maintain positive relationships with partners of all Behavioral Health programs (DHHS, Family Treatment Court, Drug Court, ect.)
  • Must be capable of satisfying and training the job responsibilities of a BHIS provider, GSLS Provider, Residential Technicians, and Service Coordinators.
  • Schedule and facilitate regular meetings of the behavioral health leadership team to disseminate pertinent information and promote open communication.
  • Responsible for creating a positive culture for the respective location(s).
  • Works closely with Compliance Department to ensure resolution of any identified need and proactively works to mitigate risks or penalties.
  • Responsible for setting performance targets for each behavioral health program, quarterly review of progress/need, and implementation of improvement measures as identified.
  • Responsible for implementation of Evidence-Based Practices and review.
  • Utilize the coaching tool with staff on a consistent basis to promote staff development.
  • Responsible for ensuring documentation requirements of staff, related to individual service, are adhered to, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that only non-aversive behavior management techniques are used as outlined in the behavior plans and report all incidents of suspected Individual's rights violations.
  • Participate in the organization's safety program, which includes, but is not limited to, emergency evacuation and disaster procedures. Must be capable of executing emergencies and evacuation procedures. May provide transportation in the event of an emergency.
  • Work closely with HR and immediate supervisor to identify staff vacancies, post job openings, and hire qualified staff members.
  • Participate in the "on-call" rotation.
  • Responsible for filling vacant shifts in a financially responsible way; working shifts as needed to minimize overtime.
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time and to work occasional evenings and weekends for meetings and/or events.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and work effectively with people.
  • Responsible to maintain the highest level of confidentiality always.
  • Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position, as assigned.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state reporting systems and ensure FRC is timely and compliant with data submission.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master's degree preferred. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required, plus four (4) years of experience working in a behavioral health system.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of computers and computer based programs.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds without restrictions.
  • Successfully complete the new hire orientation checklist.
  • Satisfactory attend all required trainings by agency.
  • Successfully complete the established medication administration training and pass medications accordingly.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the initial 30 days of employment, and actively maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Must have valid driver's license and personal auto insurance as required by the State of Iowa and be insurable under the company's insurance.
  • Satisfactory results on background checks pertaining to criminal and abuse registries.
