A Smithfield Foods’ Financial Reporting Director is responsible for leading a team of financial reporting professionals in the consolidation and reporting of the company’s consolidated financial statements and related notes in accordance with both US GAAP and IFRS for its external stakeholders, as well as management’s discussion and analysis of financial condition and results of operations substantially consistent in form and content as required by the Securities Exchange Commission. This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.
Salary Range:
$125,500 - $209,500
Core Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to financial reporting team
  • Review top side consolidation journal entries
  • Review quarterly US GAAP financial statements and related notes for investors
  • Review quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis for investors
  • Review IFRS financial statements and reporting packages for parent company
  • Review other departmental reports
  • Prepare and/or review financial statement analysis
  • Respond to information requests from parent company and others
  • Execute internal controls over financial reporting
  • Stay abreast of new accounting pronouncements and exposure drafts and related reporting and disclosure requirements – summarize and report on key aspects and potential accounting and reporting impacts
  • Research and document accounting positions for technical accounting matters and transactions
  • Review annual impairment analysis for goodwill and other intangible assets
  • Other ad hoc projects as requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Accounting or related field and 10+ years related experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work through complex, unstructured problems
  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats
  • High level of written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and project management skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and to handle competing priorities effectively
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
