Based in Denver, CO, the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis is chiefly responsible for Xanterra Travel Collection’s annual financial plan, analysis related to existing operations and new business opportunities. This crucial role will also assist with reporting to the company executive team, lenders, and ownership.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and assist the preparation of the companywide annual financial plan (OpEx and CapEx) by working with individual property management and corporate personnel including the sequencing of the process, budget assumptions & guidance, reviewing and providing input on budget submittals, consolidating the company annual plan, and preparing the annual final plan presentation for ownership.
  • Oversee the preparation of the corporate office annual operating budget which is prepared in conjunction with department heads and subsequently monitor corporate office costs through a detailed monthly variance analysis.
  • Maintain a rolling long-term forecast of financial projections (OpEx and CapEx) and prepare periodic ad hoc requests as needed for financing or other strategic purposes.
  • Oversee the annual update of proforma to actual analysis for each completed transaction to measure actual results against original proforma projections.
  • Oversee the direct the annual determination of overhead and transfer pricing by interacting with department leaders to determine appropriate allocations.
  • Coordinate and consolidate the companywide monthly forecast Produce analyses to bridge the forecast with comparisons to budget and previous forecasts.
  • Oversee and/or perform financial analyses for a wide variety of areas including operating cost analyses, lease vs. buy scenarios, discounted cash flow and IRR analyses, and a variety of ad hoc analysis projects. Assist in review and preparation of various debt covenant analyses.
  • Provide financial analysis resources and modeling expertise to analyze national park bids and potential other acquisitions to determine Xanterra’s level of interest. Provide strategies for responding and ultimately producing a responsive bid.
  • Develop or assist in creating or modifying new and existing financial reports, including variance analysis for operating results, forecasting, budgets, and special purpose reports as required by management, ownership, lending institutions, and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in the system design of the d/EPM software planning and forecasting tool and future enhancements to allow the system to be used for long-term projections.
  • Prepare information necessary to be responsive to ownership, executive team, and lender requests as needed.
  • Manage the real estate appraisal process for any properties that might require valuation.
  • Supervise the Manager of FP&A to achieve the Finance department goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance required.
  • Ten to twelve years of experience in a financial role with a hospitality, travel/leisure, or cruise portfolio is preferred.
  • Superior quantitative and analysis skills.
  • Proven experience leading projects with a cross-functional team at all levels.
  • Perceptive and insightful minded while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong skill set utilizing Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Well-organized and strives to be a subject matter expert sought out as a resource.
  • Experience managing and tutoring others.
  • Willingness and ability to work closely with the CFO, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work effectively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, work in a fast-paced environment prone to shifting priorities, and reliably participate in and meet deadlines for the ongoing financial reporting cycle.
  • Smartsheet, CloudSuite and Birst software experience highly desired.
COMPENSATION : The salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 and is eligible for additional incentive.
