Job Summary

Responsible for the management of the Materials Management Departments. All related functions will be managed in an efficient and effective manner, including but not limited to: Shipping and receiving of all hospital supplies (except food and pharmacy), storeroom, Par Level replenishment, inventory control, material management, durable medical equipment.

Essential Functions

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,
administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.
Establish materials purchasing and distribution practice and procedures in accordance with hospital policy to insure effective preparation and processing of hospital supplies and materials.
Coordinate new product evaluation.
Compiles and prepares special reports concerning unusual or expensive purchase item reports for the CFO.
Disposes of surplus or obsolete supplies and equipment through established procedures.
Works closely with the Value Analysis Team to ensure proper purchasing and item analysis. Works closely with Capital Committee to verify Capital information and verify pricing and quotes provided for purchase.
After appropriate signatures are collected, creates all capital purchases and keeps record of purchases.
Selects vendors for non-contract items.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, practice management, computer science, business, or related field - Required. Education requirements may be waived in exchange with equivalent years practice management experience.
Master's Degree preferred

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Skills
Licenses: Valid Driver's License

Minimum Work Experience
3-5 years Materials Management experience required (in Healthcare preferred).
1-2 Supervisor experience required.
