Job description
POSITION SUMMARY
Organizes and directs the Medical Surgical Unit and the Emergency Departmnet to attain the hospital’s objectives established by the governing authority. Directs hospital and nursing activities coincidental with defined hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for nurse staffing and quality of nursing care. Serves as a member of the management team. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital’s customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

Organizes and directs the administration of nursing care consistent with recognized medical and nursing standards and hospital policies and procedures.

Develops, implements and interprets nursing and patient care policies, objectives and standards for measurement and maintenance of quality nursing care.

Develops, implements and administers the nursing services budget and expense control system.
15%
Prepares the master staffing plan to meet the needs of the nursing care delivery system and organizational goals and objectives.

Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of the hospital quality improvement program through evaluation of services rendered, appropriate audits, staff meetings, medical staff and governing board collaboration.

Maintains effective communication with the administrative team, medical staff, ancillary department managers and governing board.

Recommends and participates in the development of strategic plan and new patient care programs.

Participates in the overall management of the hospital. Is administratively responsible for Community Home Care.

Responsible for personal and professional growth of self and staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. RN, BSN, preferably MSN, required, or experience commensurate with job accountabilities.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practices and verbal, interpersonal and quantitative skills typically acquired through one to three years of supervisory experience as a Director of Nursing
Required Certification & Licensure Registration and licensed with the Texas Board of Nursing; CPR certification required, ACLS certification preferred.
