PURPOSE AND ROLE

The Director of Strategic Operations is responsible for overseeing and aligning all departments to effectively execute the CEO’s vision. They will develop the overall operational business strategy to meet objectives on time. They will ensure the necessary framework, tools, and people are in place to improve operational efficiency. They will achieve this through analysis, strategy development, implementation, maintenance, reporting, and incorporation of feedback.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Translate CEO’s vision and goals into executable action plans
  • Develop and implement our Strategic Growth Plan (SGP) and associated action plansAssist in standardization and formalization of business structure
  • Oversee operations of all departments and ensure they effectively execute plans and meet objectivesGuide departments to execute at the highest level, collaborate, and remain aligned with the company’s core foundation

Lead, motivate, and hold teams accountable for their performance

  • Develop and manage operational strategies to optimize efficiency, increase profitability, and promote growthResearch: identify and analyze areas of opportunity/growth and potential risks for the business. This can include internal processes, resource allocation, software and systems, organizational structure, talent development, policies and procedures etc.

Develop: develop the SGP and create action plans/roadmaps for management to execute with timeframes, budgets, and guidance on KPI tracking/reporting
Implement: provide best practices and direction for management to effectively execute SGP implementation
Maintain: ensure KPIs are effectively tracked and analyzed, update roadmaps, collect and incorporate team feedback, suggest next steps for continued optimization
Report: oversee the team’s generation of reports and dashboards to ensure data collection and analyses are accurate, concise and effective

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards such as our Responsible Recycling Certification (R2v3), ISO 9001/14001/45001
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with partners and contractors
  • Assist with business development such as conducting basic market research/analysis and identifying new business opportunities
  • Ensure business units are operating within budget
  • Assist our contract marketing and branding team with rebranding and the creation of additional business units as part of the global company portfolio (began Q1 23, scheduled completion Q4 23)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EXPECTATIONS [FOR JOB POSTING]

7+ years of experience with the following:

  • Leadership role with proven ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams in a rapidly changing, entrepreneurial environment
  • Able to seamlessly connect the dots in a complicated, changing web of information and processes. Utilize this aggregated knowledge to make informed decisions that drive the company’s success.
  • Efficiency / LEAN manufacturing experience or work in a production-based environment
  • Excited to wear many hats and be flexible with responsibilities
  • Willing to learn and grow to oversee additional departments
  • Critical thinking and problem solving / analytical thinking
  • Works independently
