Job Summary
The Distinguished Technical Architect role is a hands-on role that supports architectural designs and advisory with in Omni Services organization. This is a highly technical role where the right candidate can go deep into specific application and services, and work on higher-level multi-domain system designs.
About the team
The Omni Services organization is dedicated to crafting compelling omni-channel experiences that engage our customers both in-store and online regularly. We place a strong emphasis on enhancing in-store shopping by offering innovative features such as Store Mode, Store Map, and various other mid-store shopping experiences. We also manage in-store and online returns processes to ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience for our customers.
Our team is also responsible for creating sophisticated software solutions to deliver customer-centric experiences at auto care centers and fuel pumps. We leverage advanced technology to enable customers to manage their finances seamlessly at Walmart, using their channel of preference. Furthermore, our expertise extends to integrating Walmart's systems with carrier systems, ensuring customers can easily manage their wireless plans in our stores.

Distinguished Technical Architect role is a hands-on role that supports architectural designs and advisory for Omni Services organization. The role will lead overall tech strategy & architecture across US Omni Services organization.
Direct support and engagement with engineering teams will improve designs, reduce complexity, and contribute to adoption of better practices and strengthened expertise. Contributions towards larger systemic decoupling, and better shared standards will help elevate the entire engineering org and improve the overall quality, stability, and availability of our production systems. Direct team engagement across many domains will increase networking which further elevates the overall org. This role has a huge impact to the business as the new designed platform will power the growth of the market to the multi-billion dollar.

- Lead and inspire high-performing engineering teams in omni-channel retail to build and scale highly reliable, secure, and performant platform / products and frameworks. Own the technical design, realization, and maintainability for a complex micro services ecosystem.
- Drive a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on engineering excellence, execution and propagate build for scale mindset. Develop trusted partnerships with developers, partners, and architecture leaders to drive optimized platform / product delivery.
- Lead complex technical and strategic discussions that involve multiple personas including engineering, architect, product, customer, and other stakeholders.
- Drive development and designs/solutions involving the integration of varied technologies and products to meet business objectives.
- Bring a strong industry perspective that can help shape and evolve the internal developer experience to be as good or better than other leading technology organizations. Assess and leverage technology when appropriate from Global solutions existing in Walmart ecosystem to build / leverage scalable and innovative solutions.
- High sense of urgency to solve problems and in executing them with extreme ownership.
What you'll bring
- 14+ years of experience of engineering experience with a focus on large scale product development in open stack and microservices delivery environment
- Expert in building distributed systems using hybrid cloud technology. Strong knowledge about public cloud infrastructure
- Built a complex microservices based platform or product.
- Strong technical background with the capability of being hands-on as required.
- Ability to set and drive technical vision and provide technical mentorship to all levels of engineering talent.
- Experience of working with globally distributed team. Experience with hiring and building teams from ground up.
- Keen eye for new technology trends and how they can be used to help grow the business.
- Experience building products that are powered by massive data and can scale to lots of users.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with globally distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner.

- Experience in performance instrumentation, tuning, and optimization of large-scale products.
- Have good knowledge in design patterns while building cloud-native products.
