Description
The Driver Lead is responsible for leading the daily activities of delivery drivers. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Provides direction and oversee the day to day delivery activities;
- Collaborates with transportation leadership to ensure that delivery driver schedules meet the organizational and customer needs; Dispatches drivers.
- Assists with the daily supervision of drivers provides guidance as needed while ensuring that departmental procedures are followed appropriately.
- Assures daily receipt of all driver logs.
- Reviews logs for duplication and insures that correct procedures are being followed.
- Generates and maintains reports of daily stops for each driver.
- Maintains proper logs for same day deliveries from afternoon drivers.
- May contact customers to check on the status of delivery.
- Liaison to customer when packages are delivered as indicated.
- Works with leadership to develop proper delivery zones for each driver.
- Ensure drivers have necessary paperwork (delivery sheets, door tags, etc.).
- Ensure that drivers complies with all applicable traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensure that any work related equipment is in working order and used for business purposes only.
- Communicating any accidents or equipment malfunctions to leadership.
- Provide input and feedback to supervisor on associates performance.
- Complies with company policies and procedures and maintains confidentiality of patient medical records in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Ensures compliance with all HEDIS, HIPAA, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Participates in meetings, training and in-service education, as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a H.S. diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years experience as a courier or route driver. Requires a valid federal/state/local drivers license required where associate is operating a vehicle for company purposes.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
Experience driving a commercial vehicle strongly preferred. Previous experience in healthcare environment strongly preferred.
