Job Summary:
PCM School District is now hiring an energetic, highly qualified preschool teacher who is knowledgeable about early childhood development, instruction, and assessment, and who is able to increase student learning by fostering instructional excellence. This preschool teacher will collaborate and understand the importance of developing strong partnerships with parents. Critical dispositions of the ideal PCM preschool teacher include an attitude of positivity, a growth mindset; sincere character with students; effective communication skills with staff and parents; professional competence and experience; and positive interpersonal skills.
About our District:
The PCM Community School District is a 2A district serving the youth of Prairie City, Monroe, Reasoner, and the surrounding areas. We offer competitive wages and a family-centered, team-oriented environment. Classes average 23 students per grade. In the 2022-2023 school year, 1184 students were enrolled in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. We are an innovative and growing school district located near the Des Moines Metro area. There are two elementary school buildings in each community of Prairie City and Monroe. The Middle school is home to students in grades 6-8 and is in the city of Prairie City and the PCM High School, housing students in grades 9-12, is located seven miles away in Monroe, IA. The PCM CSD is centrally located in the State of Iowa, just 30 miles east of Des Moines, IA, and 95 miles west of Iowa City. Prairie City is home to the Neal Smith Refuge and Monroe is a very short drive away from beautiful Lake Red Rock located near Pella, IA.
Essential Qualifications:
Current Iowa Teaching Certificate with an Endorsement in Preschool
Preschool Special Education endorsement preferred
Student-Centered and Team Oriented
Experience with developmentally appropriate practices
