Kendall County, Illinois is seeking qualified candidates for its new full-time Economic Development Coordinator position. Under the supervision of the Deputy County Administrator, this newly created position will develop and implement programs related to Kendall County’s economic development, business retention and development efforts, and commercial area redevelopment and other short and long-term economic planning efforts. The Economic Development Coordinator will serve as one of the County’s liaisons with the Kendall County Board, other units of local government, community agencies, community stakeholders, public officials, and other economic development allies to promote economic development and growth in the fastest growing county in the State of Illinois.

Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year DOQ.

Essential Functions:

A successful candidate for this position must be able to perform essential job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Develops and recommends goals, long- and short-term objectives, policies and priorities for economic growth programs in support of Kendall County’s economic development strategy, which recommendations are given significant weight by the final decision makers.
  • Reviews and performs quality control on State of Illinois databases related to economic development including, but not limited to business attraction, business retention, business development, available commercial/industrial real estate, workforce data, and workforce development.
  • Oversees and manages the Kendall County Revolving Loan Fund, Revolving Loan Program, and Kendall County Property Tax Abatement Program.
  • Serves as staff government relations representative with municipalities, community agencies, community stakeholders, public officials, and other economic development allies to assist new and existing businesses.
  • Develops strategic economic development partnerships with businesses, organizations and communities within the County, as well as with other counties and municipalities.
  • Participates in professional and intergovernmental organizations that promote economic development and represents the County at local, regional and national meetings and conventions as needed and as assigned.
  • Assists interested businesses and industries in identifying potential sites, securing approvals, and identifying financing opportunities.
  • Maintains a comprehensive and current understanding of policies, procedures, codes, and regulations, including all State, Federal and local laws and regulations, relating to economic development.
  • Travels to and attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions as approved and as assigned, both during and after business hours. Such travel includes travel both within and outside of County limits and may include travel outside the State of Illinois, as needed to perform assigned job duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

A successful candidate must satisfy the following minimum qualifications for this position:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Preferred areas of study are Business Administration, Public Administration, Community Development/Planning, Economics/Economic Development, Real Estate, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Development, Real Estate, or related area of study.
  • At least three (3) years of previous work experience in business administration, public administration, community development/planning, economic development, real estate, public relations, marketing, and/or business development is required.
  • A Master’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, or Marketing is preferred.
  • Must possess the Certified Economic Development (CEcD) certification or must successfully obtain this certification within first year of employment.
  • Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) certification is also preferred.
  • Valid and current Illinois driver’s license is required.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position.
  • Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (occasionally may be requested to attend County Board and committee meeting both during and outside of business hours).
  • This position’s office location is on-site at the Kendall County Office Building in Yorkville, Illinois. Also, occasional travel both within and outside of Kendall County limits (including out of state travel) will be required to perform some of the above assigned job duties.
