ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

We are accepting applications for an Electronic Design Coordinator within the Division of Wildlife, headquartered at Fountain Square, assigned to Franklin county. The address is 2045 Morse Rd. Columbus, OH 43229. To learn more about the Division of Wildlife please visit https://wildohio.gov.

What you will do…

  • Create original layout and graphic design for a variety of wildlife information and educational programs (e.g., hunter, trapper, fishing, firearm safety, archery, conservation).
  • Update, modify and format established electronic designs using appropriate design software to edit, scale & color adjust images.
  • Create design and layout for printed communication materials (e.g., publications, magazines, brochures, booklets, maps, surveys, posters, displays, banners, mailers, postcards, newsletters, certificates/awards, signs, forms, and logos) and electronic designs (e.g., website, social media, interactive, presentations, video, and basic animations).
  • Create high-grade, professional design for print media using industry standard concepts and current design trends.
  • Understand and apply typography standards, color relationships, basic design concepts with resolution and pixel requirements for print & web media.

Qualifications


Completion of an undergraduate core program in visual communications with emphasis on graphic design/industrial design, &/or fine arts with emphasis on graphic design AND 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in visual communications design &/or electronic design.

  • OR completion of associate core program in visual communication technology or industrial design technology AND 24 months of training or 24 months of experience in visual communication design &/or electronic design.
  • OR 24 months of training or 24 months of experience in the use of electronic graphic equipment & available software AND 24 months of training or 24 months of experience in visual communications design &/or electronic design.
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.


Knowledge of:
public relations; agency policies & procedures (ODNR, Wildlife written, verbal, visual communications)*; humanities (fine arts, visual communications, layout design, art, graphic art or industrial design to include appropriate visual treatments & techniques); electronic data processing (computer hardware & software systems related to visual communications). Skill in: word processing & visual software (Adobe Creative Suite & Publishing Software: Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office Suite); equipment operation, use & maintenance of materials, tools & equipment in graphic art, industrial design & audio/visual communication (personal computer, printer, laminator, plotter printer, digital camera, hot/cold mounting & laminating equipment, flatbed scanner, slide scanner, hand tools, power tools, general office equipment). Ability to: define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers; electronically design & proof read technical materials; answer routine telephone inquiries form public; electronically design & proof read technical materials, recognize errors & make corrections; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; originate &/or edit articles for publication; cooperate with coworkers on group projects; handle sensitive inquiries from & contacts with officials & general public.
