Elementary School Kindergarten Teacher

  • Department: Theodore Jamerson Elementary School (TJES)
  • Status: 9 Months, Exempt
  • Salary: $43,392.00 to $46,055.00 per Salary Scale

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, with a North Dakota Kindergarten Endorsement

Summary of Duties:

  • Teach letter recognition, phonics, numbers and awareness of nature and science.
  • Organize learning materials and resources.
  • Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities, etc.) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities.
  • Maintain an open communication with parents/guardians to provide appropriate information.
  • Use games, music, artwork, technology, and books to teach basic educational and social skills.
  • Use play-based learning and hands-on teaching methods.
  • Integrates goals and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Monitoring children’s interactions and nurturing cooperation and sharing.
  • Encouraging creativity.
  • Implements the selected Pre-K curriculum.
  • Plans developmentally appropriate activities for the children regarding their interests, pace, and style of learning and includes materials and experiences in the classroom that fosters children’s development and progress.
  • Prepares and conducts creative daily experiences for the children based upon the goals of Pre-K curriculum.
  • Participates in the ongoing assessment of children’s development and progress and maintains a progress reporting system under the direction of the center director.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions and planning activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm with a working lunch with students.

Physical Demands: Will need to be able to bend, stoop and lift, walk outside in elements such as snow, rain etc.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be punctual, dependable, motivated, and energetic.
  • The ability to always make good rational decisions regarding the safety of children.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, parents/guardians.
  • Knowledge of child-development
  • The ability to work collaboratively with TJES staff.
