Emergency Services Decontamination Technician - Facilities - 1st/Day Shift (LFAB)

Our Facilities organization is at the forefront of much of this capacity expansion and as a result, we are searching for an emergency response decontamination technician to join our emergency response team to perform decontamination specialist tasks. About the job:
- Perform diverse technical duties associated with emergency response activities utilizing applicable TI, local, state and federal standards, regulations and procedures
- Provide decontamination services and support to building Hazmat teams during emergency responses
- Assist in the creation of facility exhaust boroscoping preventive maintenance processes and schedules
- Collaborate with facilities teams to ensure proper communication, equipment availability and installation of taps for exhaust boroscoping
- Perform facility exhaust boroscoping and decontamination activities as per schedule
- Maintain a safe, secure and interruption free environment utilizing prevention activities to mitigate potential situations
- Perform odor mitigation, weekly walkthroughs, training of team members, and coordination of decontamination services and maintenance of response equipment including maintenance of stock of expendable supplies in spill carts, cabinets, decon storage rooms
- Provide customer support for wreck-out, relocation and decontamination of equipment and facilities
- Maintain timesheets, decon database, and SAP for turnkey and supplemental contractors and manage overtime
- Assist in writing standard operational guidelines, forms, permits, checklists, and other documentation
- Maintain hazmat physical, respirator fit test and required OSHA training annually
- Collaborate with Facilities System Owners and ESH to work issues that arise, prevention, employee education, life safety systems, material supply, etc.
Minimum requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Environmental Safety and Health or Emergency Management
- And/or equivalent military experience as CBRN Specialist, Damage Controlman, Emergency Management Specialist
- Or 3 years of hands-on experience as an Environmental Safety and Health Specialist, Emergency Responder, or Decontamination Specialist
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
- Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
- Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
- Working well in a team environment is imperative in this role
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
- Completion of coursework or training on ESH topics preferred, but not required. Examples include but are not limited to:
- Hazard Communication OSHA training
- HAZWOPER 40 training
- DOT hazmat 49 CFR HMR training
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 – General Industry certification
- Practical, hands-on experience with the following is preferred:
- Workplace inspections
- Hazard recognition and control
- Hazardous material decontamination
- Direct reading instrument use
- Training, coaching and guiding people on ESH topics
