Job description

The Endo Tech is primarily responsible for maintaining the equipment, general cleanliness and stocking of the Endoscopy Suite. The Endo Tech shall also assist the physician/nurse with Endoscopy procedures with limited latitude for independent decisions within the bounds of their delegated authority.

Qualifications

The ASC Endoscopy Technician shall have the following qualifications:

1. Must be a high school graduate.

2. Possesses excellent organizational skills

3. Possesses excellent communication skills for both telephone and face to face interactions.

4. Possesses warm disposition with a willingness to help others.

5. Possesses good insight and judgment.

6. Must maintain CPR certification.

7. Must complete the outlined training program designed by TSDDC.

8. Good physical health required due to long periods of standing, walking and work required. Good dexterity.

9. Visual and audio acuity, speak clearly and distinctly.

10. Neat, clean and particular about appearance.

11. Should be flexible, adaptive and able to accept and implement new ideas and approaches

12. Must be able to lift/push/pull to 35lbs.

13. Must be able to sit/stand for up to 10 hours a day.

Responsibilities (The intent of the following is for a general overview and in no way provides the full scope of the position)

1. Works directly under the supervision of the Recovery and/or Procedure RN and reports directly to the Nurse Managers

2. May admit and transport patient to procedure, pre and post procedure area; assesses the patient and prepares the patient for procedure and discharge.

3. Assist with proper preparation of supplies and equipment, including emergency equipment.

4. Participate in patient care and education conferences.

5. Assist with procedures, reporting directly to the RN in the Endo Suite.

6. Assist with pre and post procedural patient assessments and teaching and documentation.

7. Assist the physician/nurse including by directly assisting with specimen collection, positioning of patient, applying pressures, administering oxygen, and other orders that fall within the bounds of their delegated authority.

7. Reprocess endoscopes according to manufacturer and Infection Control policies.

8. Develops effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

9. Determine availability of all necessary equipment and supplies and assist in procurement of deficiencies.

10. Carries out treatments and /or other orders. Assists with post procedure calls and data collection.

11. Prepare and log pathology specimens for transport to the appropriate laboratory.

12. Assist with duties of ASC Administrative Assistant.

13. Other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Nurse Managers.
