Environmental Planner/Environmental Scientist
POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specializes in the areas of air, water, waste, environmental planning, and ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45+ offices located across the country and Canada.
We seek an Environmental Planner/Environmental Scientist with experience in offshore renewable energy projects to join our Eastern Environmental Services Group and join a division of more than 300 environmental professionals across the U.S. This position will be based in our Foxborough, MA office. This is a full-time, salaried position that comes with a great benefits package.
Roles and Responsibilities
This person will implement the following duties:
· Research local, state, and federal permitting requirements.
· Prepare and lead technical writing of environmental planning and analysis documents including siting and licensing filings, and federal, state and local environmental impact assessments/reports.
· Assist project managers with project controls, team coordination, budget, and forecasting.
· Help to expand engagements to develop clientele and win work.
· Assist with proposal preparation and cost estimates for business development efforts.
· Communicate environmental protocols and requirements at public hearings, public meetings, and with other key community stakeholders.
· Prepare and review project schedules and milestones.
· Interface with internal project managers, engineers, and scientists; and external clients and subcontractors.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
· BS degree in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Oceanography, Marine Ecology, or related degree.
· Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the offshore wind industry.
· Experience in environmental planning and analysis, federal, state, and local permitting.
· Experience in offshore wind projects on the East coast U.S.
· Knowledge and interest in federal, state, and local environmental policy and regulation.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
· Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Desired Education/Experience
· An advanced graduate-level degree is a plus.
· Demonstrated experience and knowledge in renewable energy projects.
· Experience preparing NEPA documentation and BOEM COP and possibly a BOEM SAP
