Position Summary
Oversees, implements and manages the Industrial Hygiene program (IHP) for Pacific Gas and Electric Company to protect the safety, health and wellbeing of the employees working for the Company. Develops implements, monitors and administers PG&E's Industrial Hygiene program (IHP). Work with business partners to ensure that program meets and stays current with the needs of the business units. Ensures that safety and health considerations are integrated into all work procedures and operations. May be responsible for staffing the Emergency Operations Center as needed on a rotational basis.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location will be in Central Valley. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000
and/or
California Minimum: $108,000
California Maximum: $173,000
Job Responsibilities
Supports the development, oversight, administration and management of the Industrial Hygiene program (IHP) for Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
Functions as the technical expert in all aspects/issues associated with Industrial Hygiene.
Works with others at all levels to assure the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of comprehensive IHP program.
Works in conjunction with other safety professionals such as Workers’ Comp., Field Safety Specialists, Workforce Health, 24/7 Nurse Line, and Medical Director to ensure a team approach using the knowledge and skills of all these professionals to increase the effectiveness of programs to prevent occupational disease and injuries and to anticipate future IHP improvements and requirements.
Guides the work of safety specialists in gathering data for IH assessments.
Manages bi-annual updates of IHP including proper sampling methodology.
Develops accurate contract specifications, coordinates bid process, negotiates for the highest quality products and services at the best price and effectively manage vendor and service contracts. This includes having several IH contracts in place to aid business partners with issues related to health and safety.
Interacts directly with key contacts within all business units to support safety and health initiatives and to integrate consideration for safety and health into all business aspects of work as well as provide corporate oversight and consultation to business units and/or corporate clients. This may include assisting in gathering and reviewing evidence to identify health and safety issues of global impact, supporting in-depth investigations and audits, managing projects and programs, interfacing with regulatory agencies and preparing reports on all activities for distribution to clients, directors and/or officers.
Identifies program-related issues and recommends an appropriate course of action
Participates and provides a strategic and long-term view on industrial hygiene program development, including identifying industry best practices and developing an action plan to have a world class IH program.
Filing of permits and/or prework notifications.
Review and approve/deny contractor site specific plans.
Update and maintenance of IH related standards
Drive Company and/or personal vehicles as needed for travel to field locations.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelors Degree in Safety or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
Experience as Industrial Hygienist, 8 years
CIH-Certified Industrial Hygienist certification
CA Class C License, or equivalent
Desired:
5 years of safety experience in a utility environment strongly preferred
Experience applying safety methods and procedures strategically across a large organization
Experience and training in Incident Command System
