Kha'p'o Community School (KCS) is looking for a Facilities Manager to keep our campus in optimal condition. Key duties include making repairs, performing preventative maintenance, utilizing a work ticket system, and completing basic electrical and plumbing work. Candidates for this position are highly organized and knowledgeable about maintaining the facilities at a community school.KCS is a dual language (Tewa/English) Tribally Controlled Grant school serving Santa Clara Pueblo. We currently serve approximately 125 families, prenatal through 6th grade, and adult learners. KCS is a school grounded in providing students with rigorous, high-quality educational opportunities that are culturally centered on Tewa language proficiency and interactive, hands-on learning. We support students in their physical and emotional growth as well, valuing student identity and promoting and modeling high self-esteem and confidence.
Working as a Facilities Manager at KCS involves supporting the Director of Operations in assuring that the buildings, grounds, and equipment at the school are maintained at the highest level. In this position, the Facilities Manager must be willing to respond to emergency maintenance requests after hours, on weekends, and holidays as necessary. Special attention to safety standards within a school is a critical element of this role. The Facilities Manager must utilize software systems for work tickets, reports, and purchase requisitions. This role will include working with contractors as necessary to ensure excellent operations at KCS.
Applicants for this position must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid New Mexico drivers' license. An associate degree or vocational certification/license is preferred for this position. The Facilities Manager must be willing to pursue relevant or role-specific training as needed. Ideal candidates for this position have exceptional knowledge and experience in facilities management, project management, and work well with others. Knowledge of Pueblo/Native communities and the Tewa language is preferred but not required. KCS follows the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472) which promotes filling vacancies with qualified Indian candidates - consideration of non-Indian applicants will be made in the absence of qualified Indian candidates. Applicants will be required to pass a comprehensive background check and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to work at KCS.
