We are seeking a temporary bilingual Family Time Coordinator (social service assistant) to join our Child Welfare team in Clackamas County. This position will end six months from date of hire.

What you need to qualify:
One year of experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs.
OR
Possession of a current certification in child development, early childhood education, addiction counseling preparation or juvenile corrections.
OR
45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training.
OR
An associate degree in a field not closely related to social work/human services AND six months of human services-related experience (e.g. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

A valid driver license and acceptable driving record are necessary for this position.

Bilingual in English and Spanish (the job offer will be contingent upon passing test(s) evaluating your proficiency in the bilingual requirements of the position).

As a family time coordinator, you will be:

Implementing family time plans by meeting with caseworkers, clients, and caregivers.
-
Gathering information from case providers, clients, family members, schools, and others to plan family time/visitation.

Providing information to families about community services and resources.
-
Identifying and recommending services to caseworkers for planning purposes.
-
Transporting children to and from family time and supporting their emotional needs by explaining the purpose of transport and answering questions.
-
Ensuring the safety and well-being of children during transportation and family time.
-
Escorting children to medical, counseling, and other appointments.
-
Taking comprehensive and accurate notes and entering info into OR-Kids (the Child Welfare Data System).

Preparing notes for court testimony, and occasionally testifying in court.
Working conditions:
-
This position is flexible in that the candidate can work anywhere from 20-40 hours/week, but the schedule will have to be regular and set upon hire. The primary hours needing coverage are from 2-6 PM, Monday-Friday.

Travel is required for this position, including for the purpose of transporting children.
-
Work may require lifting up to 25 lbs., including lifting car seats or children.
-
You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenges in controlling their anger or other unexpected emotions impacted by drug use, cognitive impairments, or other factors.
