Job description
As the Finance and Operations Specialist of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, you will assist with the analysis, development and refinement of the department's financial operations. Primary duties include: • Develop a structure for data collection in areas such as Research Administration and Sales & Service • Drive data collection transformation and improve training opportunities to ensure a seamless transition to the new financial and purchasing mainframe systems • Assist with the development of end user documentation and training materials for system implementation; develop and maintain FAQ purchasing and financial repository. • Help identify gaps existing in business processes, and make recommendations for process improvement • Assist with purchasing responsibilities such as reviewing open commitments, resolving discrepancies, invoice disputes, and release of encumbrances May convert to career. Salary Range: $29.12 - $64.27/hour
• Experience with business process documentation & system implementation. • Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports. • Excellent communication skills to articulate general and complex policies, procedures, guidelines. • Working knowledge of UCLA's purchasing policies and procedures, including knowledge of basic purchasing, equipment management, independent consultants, material management, insurance, independent contractors, and conflict of interest - preferred • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
