Description:

This person will be supporting the Mission Analysis Cycle team that is primarily focused on lunar landers. This person will be working on the tools that are already developed (Mission Design Toolset) in order to do detailed analysis about navigation, orbital dynamics, and trajectory dynamics for their upcoming missions. The tools in the MDT will be assessing the navigation and trajectory of the vehicles launching. They also will perform models of the lunar terrain and create digital elevation maps to map out where the vehicle will be landing and roaming to while on the lunar surface. There will be image analysis - analyzing where the vehicle lands and where it will go next while in orbit. This person will do calculations in understanding the orientation of a spacecrafts with Euler Angles and Quaternion math.

This person will utilize the existing set of tools in the MDT and then will also do modifications to the existing tools and create new tools from scratch as needed (all scripted in Python). They will utilize SPICE and SPICEYPY. SPICE is a tool originating from JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) that is used for reading data files and doing orbital geometric equations. They will use SPICEYPY, the python version.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering with 0 years of experience OR Bachelors Degree in Aerospace with 1-2 years of experience
