POSITION: Case Builder

LOCATION: remote, must live in the US and be eligible to work in the US

Pay: 19.23 per hour plus excellent benefits package

Start Date: May 1st 2023. the first 12 weeks is mandatory training and you cannot miss any days of work (It is fully paid and fully remote)

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day (extended hours may sometimes be required)

General Job Summary:

The Case Building Department translates rudimentary VA exam requests into highly detailed, organized cases that the provider can readily use to evaluate a Veteran’s conditions. Case Builders streamline the evaluation process by allowing Providers to evaluate Veterans more efficiently.

Essential Job Functions:

1) Read and comprehend the exam request (2507) sent by the VA, and process accordingly;

2) Check veteran’s previous cases for overlapping information and other issues;

3) Draft and submit clarification inquiries to the VA to better understand the information contained, or resolve any inconsistencies that exist, within the exam request;

4) Enter information into the software for the doctor to be able to utilize during and after the appointment;

5) Ensure providers have the necessary documentation and medical records to properly evaluate Veterans;

6) Research medical conditions and new information when necessary;

7) Identify and include all relevant worksheets and diagnostics requested by the VA;

8) Appropriately draft and format questions the VA would like the Provider to address;

9) Communicate with other departments to share relevant information when necessary in order to best complete the case;

10) Thoroughly checks over work before sending it on to the next department; and

11) Assists in peer-reviewing other Case Builders’ work before appointments are seen.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Attends meetings with Case Building team in order to stay up-to-date on important information;

2) Understands and successfully uses OMS software, Microsoft Office programs, Internet, and e-mail;

3) Responds promptly and appropriately to messages from supervisors, co-workers, and other departments; and

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1) Intermediate understanding of pertinent medical terminology;

2) Proficient typing skills;

3) Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills, to include excellent grammar, and highly developed interpersonal skills;

4) Excellent reading and comprehension abilities;

5) Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, general internet research, and beginner Microsoft Excel knowledge;

6) Self-starting and highly analytical;

7) Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with strong ability to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision;

8) Exceptional multi-tasking capabilities.

Working Conditions:

1) Normal office environment with some exposure to moderate noise from office equipment and/or generated by staff members;

2) Frequently utilizes phone, fax machine, computer, printer, and copy machines;

3) Extended hours are sometimes required beyond the regular eight hour work day.

Minimum Level of Preparation and Training:

High school diploma or GED required.
