BlackMill Games is looking for an experienced Game Designer with a passion for history to work on our series of WW1-themed multiplayer first person shooters. You will initially be involved in the design and rebalancing aspects of post-launch content for our latest game, Isonzo. Later, you might create entirely new systems such as progression mechanics, game mode rules, loadouts and balancing, for newer games in our WW1 Game Series. Working historical elements into gameplay elements is a big part of the role, so an affection for this is a plus. Some experience in working in Unity to tweak exposed variables is also preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create fitting game and meta game designs within the historical context of WW1
• Reviewing balance using input from community and analytics data
• Work with product managers, developers and artists to oversee the implementation of new features and systems
• Taking ownership over the design you create
• Assist developers who are prototyping new gameplay by offering design guidance
• Help estimate and plan production times with production team
• Engage with the community about the game design

Qualifications:

• Shipped at least 1 commercial title, or extensive experience in personal projects
• Experience and knowledge on historical multiplayer First Person Shooters
• Strong knowledge of game balancing and pacing
• Works well in a remote team environment
• Broad knowledge of, and expertise in the application of game design paradigms and design methodologies
• Interest in World War History
• Affinity with gaming
• Timezone should not differ more than 4 hours from Amsterdam
• Available for 32-40 hours per week
• Read, write and talk excellent English
