Liberty Disposal Inc. is currently hiring a General Maintenance Technician for their Oklahoma location.
Background on company: Liberty Disposal Inc was founded in 1989 and is family owned, located in
Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Arizona, Georgia, and our Field administration office is in New Hampstead,
NC.
Job description: The General maintenance technician will be responsible for performing repair and maintenance on containers, compactors, and/or the vehicle fleet, paint repaired or new containers, assist in vehicle maintenance and repair, and perform property maintenance for company grounds.
In addition will assist the lead technician in fleet maintenance, Groundskeeping and paint cans.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in vehicle fleet maintenance.
- Ensure property grounds are presentable.
- Paint repaired and or new containers.
- Perform sanding, grinding, cutting, welding and other fabrication or repair work on company containers, compactors, and other equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Install lids and wheels on containers.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspection (PMI) on compactors and containers,
Troubleshoot, repair any issues.
- Maintain a clean, safer work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
- Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.
- Attend Safety meetings.
- Complete monthly assigned training.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
- Other duties assigned.
- Willing to travel to other locations as necessary.
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas.
- Excellent welding and mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of Mig/Arc and stick welding.
- Cutting torch skills: ability to use plasma cutter.
- Knowledge of small shop tools
- Proficient in the use and interpretation of installation diagrams and troubleshooting manuals.
- Familiar with the use of schematics, wiring diagrams, and related troubleshooting guides pertaining to medium and heavy vehicle operating systems.
- Good mechanical aptitude of vehicle maintenance and repair
- Experience using repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair vehicle or component failure.
- Knowledge of truck components and systems
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Familiarity with using a computer, Knowledge of MS office a plus.
Qualifications
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid Driver’s license
- Willingness to get CDL driver’s license or have CDL.
- Possess a valid DOT medical card or able to obtain prior to hire.
- Pass a background check to be able to obtain a Base ID
- 1-2 years’ experience as welder
- 1-2 years’ experience as truck mechanic
