Timmons Group is currently seeking a GIS Business Analyst in Jefferson City, MO.. A Business Analyst will utilize their technical expertise and analytical skills to support our clients with the implementation of technology solutions through the entire software development life cycle from discovery through implementation and handoff to support. The ideal candidate will work onsite with our client.
The Business Analyst works with our clients to understand their business activities, workflows, and needs on multiple levels (from a technical, functional, practical, and end-user perspective). The Business Analyst must be a highly engaging individual who will work with clients and internal team members to develop and manage scope and deliver awesome solutions through an iterative methodology. The Business Analyst works closely with the Project Manager to ensure scope stays aligned with the schedule and budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to the following:
Initiate, Plan, Develop and Monitor Business Processes and Procedures
- Develop Standard Documentation formats for processes, procedures, and technical materials
- Collect and finalize information from other project resources as appropriate for the project task.
- Aid in formal documentation of technical system requirements and support issues
- Collaborate with other Team members to analyze current and future business needs and aid in planning for those needs.
- Follow already established procedures and processes (e.g., best practices and business process documents)
- Monitor daily activities of Team members, hourly staff and Department staff to ensure best practices, business processes and procedures are being followed
- Update technical documents and business processes and procedures as adjustments are needed
Analysis
- Assist in analysis of requirements and implementation of solutions identification, development, and deployment
- Assist in development of system performance monitoring and reporting for GIS Program
- Assist in data analysis and reporting from within the enterprise data repository systems
Communication Skills
- Communicate processes, procedures and technology to a diverse audience with a varying skill set
- Schedule meetings and prepare meeting notes and business correspondence document identified action items
Training
- Develop and aid in provision of training materials to Department staff on process and procedures and use of the GIS system and related software applications.
- Maintain Enterprise GIS Program level training documentation and ensure staff access
Planning
- Collaborates with other team members, software vendors, and other business units to analyze current and future business.
- Assist supervisor with planning for efforts and resource estimates
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Management or closely related subjects and at least four (4) years of professional experience (prefer experience in development of business processes, training and managing documentation); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Develop strict attention to detail.
- Operate a motor vehicle and have or obtain a valid Driver License.
- Travel and stay overnight on occasion.
- Be self-motivated, exercise independent judgment and act on it.
- Work in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
- Take a long-term view of the Department’s or Unit’s direction and articulate a vision which integrates key program goals, priorities, values and other factors.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
