About this position:
The Greenskeeper I is a skilled Golf Course maintenance position located in Portland Parks and Recreation. Individuals in this position will interact with a broad range of multicultural and multilingual communities. A Greenskeeper I is knowledgeable of all golf course maintenance equipment, possess a working knowledge of irrigation repair, fertilizers applications and knows the rules of golf and golf etiquette. The current vacancy is at Red Tail Golf Course, the positions will most likely be scheduled Friday to Tuesday. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future positions that become available at any of the golf courses: Colwood, Eastmoreland, Heron Lakes, RedTail and Rose City.
About the Work: The Greenskeeper I grooms turf on all areas of golf course according to USGA guidelines for playability and difficulty for tournament play, club play or daily user play, and is responsible for answering inquiries from the golfing public regarding course maintenance, basic etiquette and the rules of golf.
As a Greenskeeper I you will:

Operate a variety of equipment (precision mowers, loaders and trenchers)

Clean and maintain golf course grounds and facilities

- Knowledge and experience operating and performing maintenance of golf equipment including but not limited to greens mowers, fairway mowers, and trim mowers.
- Knowledge and experience maintaining and repairing golf course irrigation.
- Knowledge and experience setting up golf courses and applying golf rules and etiquette.
- Experience safely and effectively applying fertilizers and pesticides.
- Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with co-workers, diverse communities from different races, backgrounds and ethnicities and work constructively in a team.
- A valid state driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment.
- Ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicator license within 6-months of hire. For materials and study guide click here.
