BBSI is currently accepting applications for Grinders for our aerospace manufacturing client in SE Portland.

Grinders work throughout the production process to remove surface and subsurface defects from castings in order to meet quality standards. Each day, Grinders are an important part of the manufacturing process, and perform tasks such as:

• Reviewing inspection paperwork, and grinding and blending defect areas on castings
• Blending welds to blueprint standards
• Ensuring compliance with customer specifications
• Completing logs and records

This is an entry-level position, with opportunities for growth into several areas of manufacturing. While direct experience is not necessary, some skills and abilities, such as the following, ensure success within this role:

• Grinding skills and working knowledge of grinding tools, equipment, and materials
• Basic ability to follow instructions, read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations
• Ability to use and read dimensional tools like calipers, gauges and micrometers
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow written instructions
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to eighty pounds

This position does require the ability to work in difficult working conditions that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, awkward physical positions and other elements for extended periods of time. Additionally, Individuals may have contact with or be required to handle hazardous waste.
