Position Description
Performs specialized technical skills and/or diversified clerical duties associated with health information management procedures. Maintains and operates a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems to collect, classify, store and analyze information. Uses excellent customer service and phone skills to operate front desks within HIMS sections and establishes a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, other departments within the organization, as well as outside contacts to assure health information is properly completed, disclosed, and maintained.
Position Requirements
Associates degree in Health Information Technology or related degree and 1 year or more of experience in medical terminology, data entry, analysis of documentation and/or customer service. Additional years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of minimum education requirement. Basic computer skills required.
Preferred Requirements
Associates Degree in Health Information Technology or related degree. 1 year or more of experience in a health information management department. Medical terminology. Advanced analytical skills necessary to collect, classify, store, analyze, and correct health information and to interact with staff and assist with the performance of job duties.
