We are seeking a Part-time Information Desk Agent to join our team at the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center. In this role, you will be responsible for providing excellent guest support and enhancing their overall experience during their visit. You will be responsible for opening and closing the facility and all associated venues, answering phone calls and emails, selling memberships, restocking educational materials, and informing guests of the Garden's activities, programming, and special events. Additionally, you will participate in special events held in and around the Discovery Center to support guest engagement.

Qualification Summary:

  • Education and experience in guest service and/or hospitality strongly preferred
  • Ability to work well in teams and with diverse constituencies
  • Self-motivated and ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication and organizational skills
  • Refined and well-organized multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and desktop publishing programs
  • Good judgment and a sense of humor
  • Must have a valid GA driver's license
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to navigate stairways and corridors
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds

  • Ability to work well in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity

  • Ability to listen carefully and clarify concerns and issues raised by team members and guests
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and perform basic math functions

Duties and Functions:

  • Interact with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Callaway standards
  • Assist with program promotion and provide public presentations and demonstrations as needed
  • Evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Maintain animal displays and behind-the-scenes housing areas
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with Callaway standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations
  • Attend necessary workshops, events and training seminars
  • Communicate policy and information to program staff
  • Reliably work a schedule to include weekends and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
  • Attend all meetings/training as required by supervisor or manager
