Position Statement
Jersey College is a nationally recognized institution of higher learning focusing on nursing education. Jersey College has 16 campuses around the country and has graduated over 10,500 nurses in our local communities. Our college is looking for an Information Technology Administrator to maintain and support our IT infrastructure. The individual is responsible for ensuring the technological needs of the organization are secure and adapts to changing needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze and determine the system needs of our organization
- Install and maintain hardware and software for the network
- Ensure systems operate efficiently by performing necessary upgrades and repairs
- Maintain and evaluate a strategy to maintain system security on the computers and the network as a who
- Optimize and evaluate the system regularly
- Assign and update security permissions for the system network
- Train and direct Help Desk Tem correct use of network, software, and hardware within our system
- Perform problem-solving tasks when alerted by a user or monitoring system

Job Responsibilities
Network Administration
- Maintain and manage organizational networks
- Troubleshoot system failures and resolve roadblocks in the network
- Evaluate network performance to improve the network
- Schedule upgrades and maintenance without interrupting business workflow
- Work with vendors to secure equipment for the network
- Monitor Microsoft alerts to proactively respond, analyze, and troubleshoot to avoid potential incidents that may cause system/network backlogs
- Monitor Microsoft server performance, run routine server diagnostic tests, perform and monitor system backups, and perform cluster failovers
- Install, maintain, configure, upgrade and/,or administer hardware/software for servers (MS Exchange, Hyper-V and Micro,soft Windows Servers) and third third-party participations require specific knowledge to evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard procedures
- Maintain and upgrade network connections (e.g., servers, switches, routers, firewalls, security appliappliances
- Maintain and upgrade LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi networks and maintains file servers (e.g., users, space allocations, backups, etc.)
Exchange Server Administration
- System Administration with a particular focus on MS Exchange Administration
- Administer deployment of Exchange servers
- Security Appliances, Spam/Anti-virus filtering, and Clustering
- Configuration, support and administration of Exchange 2019
- Manage process for user accounts and mailbox creation
Security
- Focus on system monitoring for sustained periods, actively mitigating threats to service availability
- Maintain and monitor backup strategies using VEEM, AWS, Cloudberry
- Develop a data restoration plan for testingPromote the security and preservation of College computer networks/data systems
- Monitor the ongoing security of the College’s computer network systems
- Ensure hardware and software compatibility
- Develop rules and procedures that promote the proper use, care, and security of equipment/software
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all licensing agreements
- Inspect equipment for suitability, obsolescence, and damage and pursing unused and out-of-date equipment
- Evaluate, develop, and implement disaster recovery procedures that minimize down downtime
- Assist with the planning, design and , installation of future information technology expansions as growth demands
Management of Helpdesk Staff
- Manage local campus helpdesk staff and their capacity to provide IT helpdesk services to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies
- Associates degree in Computer Science acceptable, Bachelors Preferred
- Minimum of two years of IT experience
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize workflow
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Detailed orientated
- Exceptional student/customer service, listening, and teamwork skills
- An outgoing, approachable style and a passion for helping others
- Certifications are a Plus
