Job Summary
The Investment Associate applies their financial markets knowledge, analytical expertise, and interpersonal skills to promote a seamless investment process and superior client experience. The role combines elements of investment research, account administration, client service, and business process improvement. The Investment Associate performs portfolio analysis and monitoring, develops strategy and manages execution, and generates specific analysis and reports for existing and prospective clients. The Investment Associate will receive significant mentoring but is expected to quickly gain the expertise and confidence to work independently and professionally. Ideal candidates should possess a positive attitude, an ability to learn, and a desire to improve. Candidates should also be passionate about investing, assisting clients, and contributing to the success of the firm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Closely monitors the asset allocation, available cash, upcoming maturities, expected dividends and interest, realized and unrealized capital gains, and recent trading activity to ensure that portfolios are appropriately invested and aligned with client guidelines.
  • Suggests and executes trades to implement portfolio changes.
  • Creates and reviews materials for client meetings and attends client meetings as needed.
  • Analyzes portfolio holdings and daily transactions data to generate management reports and audit data.
  • Evaluates office workflows and procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Under the direction of the Portfolio Manager, conducts investment research which may include analysis of individual securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and alternative investments), asset classes, and economic data.
  • Answers phone and email inquiries from clients as needed and provides basic portfolio updates.
  • Assists in developing presentations, strategies, and rapport with current and prospective clients.
  • Handles various portfolio administrative functions including but not limited to reviewing client billing; confirming security cost basis; ensuring funds are available to meet client distributions; determining instruments to sell to raise cash; and selecting suitable securities to satisfy in-kind charitable giving requests.
  • High answerability for actions and consequences for self. Works on special projects as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel formulas and experience making presentation ready materials in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience or education in financial markets.
  • Experience with market data systems such as FactSet, Bloomberg, and Morningstar is preferred but not required.
  • Any programming, accounting, or statistical knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, including inductive reasoning and critical thinking.
  • Highly motivated and excellent time management skills.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum: 3 or more years related experience
Systems and Technology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Familiarity with market data systems;
  • Working knowledge and competency with various analytical tools including: Zephyr Style Advisor, Ibbotson/Morningstar Encorr Analyzer, SAS, Excel Statistical and Data Functions, FactSet formulas and databases.

Hiring Minimum: $90,000
Hiring Maximum: $125,000
