Position Summary
The Information Technology (IT) Supervisor in the Refining IT Operations for the Detroit Refinery will contribute to and help support the future vision, strategy realization, technology roadmaps, innovation, and drive the delivery of business value. This role will be proactive and work closely with peers across IT and business partners to ensure the team is embedded operationally, connected horizontally, and integrated vertically. In addition to developing and maintaining processes to ensure collaboration and continuous improvement, the IT Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day activities of a team of technical specialists and technicians, in both information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), responsible for providing value-adding new services to the Refining organization while ensuring reliable and secure operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the IT trusted and strategic partner for the Detroit Refinery. Advocate and educate on technology, ensuring secure and reliable technology products and services. Acts as a liaison between the Information Technology (IT) group and the refinery for the development and implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing systems.
  • Identify, research, and resolve issues proactively and provide recommendations to business partners, internal IT and OT resources, and the Refining Leadership Team. This includes triage issues and building strategic technology roadmaps for the refinery.
  • Ensure IT and OT support results in exceptional operations and highly reliable processing that does not adversely affect the business.
  • Mentoring, training, and compliance of IT and OT Project Management directives, SDLC process and integration, and IT and OT policies and standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets. Track actual costs throughout the year against capital and expense budgets; ensure costs and projections remain within budget.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technology trends within IT and the Oil & Gas industry, identify evolving business requirements, and foster knowledge sharing and collaboration with the business partners.
  • Be an active leader of change, both organizational and technical.
  • Recruiting, selecting, and evaluating of IT and OT talent. Conduct performance reviews, career coaching, goal creation, regular one-on-one meetings, and oversee developmental training.
  • Proactively monitors and communicates the status of incidents and outages and drives resolution. Analyzes data and trends to identify a root cause; then addresses the problem.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems required.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of IT and/or OT experience required.
  • 3 or more years of IT leadership experience supervising direct or indirect reports required.
