Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Reports to: Cook / Manager
- Hours – FLEXIBLE / Can be negotiated (2 Part Time Positions available (5 hour shifts 4 or 3 days alternate weekends)
- Pay - £9.50 per hour
- Location – Courtfied Lodge, Ormskirk (As part of We Care Group, you may be required to work from other locations at the discretion of the company and with appropriate notice)

Job Overview
As a Kitchen Assistant you will help to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that our residents will love. You’ll demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety and hygiene. And, whether you’re maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures or scrubbing that last bit of spilled food from inside the oven, you’ll always have the residents wellbeing in mind above anything else.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Job
- Support the chef to deliver a varied and nutritional menu in line with dietary needs
- Adhering to completing all mandatory paperwork including: adhering to COSHH and company guidelines, policies and procedures
- Support the chef with ordering from preferred suppliers
- Regularly monitor stock control and to inform the Chef / Manager of any discrepancies.
- To ensure proper stock rotation of foodstuffs to minimise wastage, and to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past "sell-by" dates for any reason.
- To help prepare beverages and food
- To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations
- Ensuring deep cleaning of the kitchen is adhered to on a regular basis
- To assist in the monitoring and recording of refrigerator, chiller and freezer temperatures
- Actively participating in discussions, with the kitchen team, to improve the service
- Ensure all the dishes are washed, dried and put away promptly
Personal Responsibilities
Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the management
(Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required)
